The Cause of Snoring

Snoring is caused by the physical obstruction of the flow of air through the mouth and nose. The walls of the throat vibrate during breathing, resulting in the horrific sounds of snoring.

The Reasons for Snoring

There are a couple of reasons that people may snore:

Excess fleshy structure in the throat- With a lot of tissues that collide, it is more likely that snoring can occur. This clarifies why people snore when they have abnormal or infected tonsils or adenoids. People that are overweight have larger necks than normal that narrow the air passage while adding more obstructions because of the excess tissues.

Although people with this situation search for cures for snoring through devices, it is probably advisable for them to look more towards the loss of weight. Of course losing weight is not that easy of a task, but it is something that needs to be done with dedication and determination.

Plus being overweight can cause other more serious health issues.

Obstruction in the nasal passage is also an inhibitor of the movement of air from nose to lungs- If someone is incapable of breathing through their nose due to sinuses, allergies or a cold, they are then forced to breathe extra hard which then creates the vacuum in the throat. The loose areas that dangle in this section of the respiratory tract are then subject to excessive movements.

Because of this, a person that is less likely to snore may find themselves snoring often during the changes of the seasons.

Problems with the nose construction- The nasal septum, the underlying bone of the nasal bridge that separates one nostril from the other, can also have deformities that may cause obstruction in the air flow.

When looking for cures for snoring for this issue, the person does not have to look far as the remedy is a simple over-the-counter remedy.

Mouth breathing can also directly result to snores- Once the jaws drop during our sleep, a space will be created that would allow the tongue to fall back towards the throat. This would create the obstruction in the throat that will cause the vibration that creates snoring.

Cures for Snoring

There are many snoring remedies, cures for snoring and snoring devices that can either, cure, eliminate or at least minimize the situation.  Some may try serious remedies such as surgery while others search for a more simple cure like snoring devices.

Surgery may sound like something serious, but here is a video on WebMD about a simple and quick surgery that can correct the snoring issue.

There are many techniques used to surgically eliminate unwanted tissues. Some actually scrape these tissues while others allow electrically-induced disintegration of such muscles which will then be reabsorbed by the body. As for weight loss, there are also various methods of losing pounds.

The person has to follow a comprehensive exercise or diet plan that will best fit his condition. Surgery is also used when the main cause of snoring is deviated nasal septum. This choice of cure for snoring will of course require careful examination and determined decision.

If you are a mouth breather then you should try your best to switch to nasal breathing. There are many exercises and devices that can encourage the shift in breathing.

Problems on nasal passage are a bit less complicated to resolve. This issue can be rectified through the use of nasal sprays and strips.

No matter what cure for snoring you choose, just make sure it is the right one for you as not all remedies are made for just one person.

Make sure you consult with a physician if you plan to go the surgical route. If you are choosing to use snoring devices, make sure you don’t give up. Try different ones until you find the one that is right for you.
